Check parathyroid: Vitamin d is low for many reasons. Calcium should not be low unless your serum protein is low, you have a specific disease causing calcium decrease or parathyroid gland is not working properly. You shpld see a doctor and get thus checked. Normally, oral bit d is absorbed well enough to take care of a low level.

Whoa: If you are hypocalcemic, first verify that albumin is not also low -- this is the most common explanation. If you are vitamin D deficient, it is a serious mistake not to take oral replacement. Sunlight, supplemented dairy products, some oily fish can supplement your vitamin D also.
