More than OK-needed: The vast majority of calcium in our body is in our bones. You can maintain a normal blood calcium even if grossly deficient. Vit. D deficiency significantly increases risk of many cancers, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, depression, influenza, osteoporosis etc.Vit. D will not raise blood calcium (this is regulated by parathyroid hormone) but will reduce risk of disease.I advise 5000 units/day.
