A member asked:

If i have more a pyscological than a physical addiction to opiates is suboxone still a good way to do? i have bad anxiety days after last hydro dose

Yes.: Suboxone is indicated for the treatment of opiate addiction and has been found to be effective. It is difficult to separate physical addiction from psychological addiction. Addiction to opiates typically causes tolerance, withdrawal, and the need to increase the amount of opiate taken. Suboxone is effective in stopping this cycle. Most side effects resolve.

Usually, a good drug: Subutex and Suboxone are fda approved drugs for treating dependence on opioids. Subutex is usually the drug of choice in the early stages of treatment, while maintenance is done with suboxone. Research indicates that both drugs are reasonably impactful for both the psychological and the physiological dependence on opiates. Added counseling, improves compliance with drug treatment.
