Disease of Addiction: This could be the Suboxone but it also depends on where he is in his withdrawal or post acute withdrawal process. It may be best to get help in person from the physician who is managing his care and Suboxone prescription now. I would also wish for you and him that he be in some kind of twelve step program with fellowship.

Opiate addiction.: Hi, it is not clear what you are asking. It is hard to say what the nightmares are from. In general i have not seen Suboxone cause them. The bottom line is i hope he is getting some talk therapy. Not to presume, but we all look to medication to solve problems alone. Suboxone needs to be linked to talk therapy. Good luck.

Possible side effect: Both Suboxone and lexipro are reported to cause nightmares in about 1% of those taking them; it seems to be a bigger issue for those on lexipro. It is possible that it is also a coincidence as many not on meds also have nightmares. Your son should discuss this with the doctor who prescribed these meds and explore alternatives- i'd try a different antidepressant first. Counseling may help too!
