Treatment: The tooth is question needs to be treated... If it is infected and otherwise healthy, then root canal therapy is indicated. Have your local dentist take a look.

Root canal: A root canal can remove the dental pulp. You'll likely then need a crown to protect the tooth.

Dental pain: I would go to your dentist. The tooth is not stable if you have an infection dental pulp. The only ways to treat infected dental pulp is a root canal or extraction of the tooth. See your dentist and get definitive care.
