Don't try: Dentistry is not a diy profession.. It takes years of education and experience just to pass the exams to graduate and get a license to do exactly what you propose to do with no knowledge and no experience. Have a local dentist extract the tooth.

That depends: Do you like pain? Are you excited about the prospects of damaging other teeth in the process? Does the idea of developing infection give you a thrill? If the answers are yes, then go ahead. If you wish to minimize your chance for complications and maximize your health, then no don't do it your self and get to the dentist. They are trained to do it correctly.

Self care: Are you a dentist with a trained assistant to help you, ; have all necessary sterilized instruments available to help you in case you run into a problem? I have been extracting teeth for over 40 years ; once in awhile an apparently easy tooth to extract becomes an unexpected chore! and don't forget the saying, "a doctor who treats himself has a fool for a patient". If a lay person, i think not!

Agree w/ Dr. Sandler: 100%. Toothache pain can be very painful, very annoying and very frustrating, making you try anything to get relief. To be on the safe side and avoid any potential complications (e.G infection, trauma to adjacent teeth or tissue), you should always go to the dentist if you have a toothache. Eventually, you end up going to a dentist anyway.
