A member asked:

Is there a kind of transplant that makes you unable to do any heavy lifting ever again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: After the transplant incision has had sufficient time to heal, a return to regular activities is anticipated. There is an increased risk of hernia after any surgical procedure, if excessive physical strain is put on a healing incision, and more so with transplants, as immunosuppression slows wound healing. Discuss with one's surgeon to plan for a gradual return to regular activities.
