Follicular unit: The current "gold standard" for hair transplantation is follicular unit transplantation. In this technique, a strip of hair or individual small "punches" or "plugs" of hair are harvested from the back of the scalp. The individual hair follicles are the dissected out using a microscope. These individual hair follicles are then transplanted back into the area that is lacking hair growth.

Hair Microsurgery: The latest hair transplant techniques look very natural because they use small clusters of 1, 2, or 3 follicles rather then plugs of 10-15 hairs (old fashioned technique). We use a microsurgical technique to ensure that each graft is cut appropriately and implanted in the best possible way to give the hair a natural appearance.

It depends: Follicular unit hair transplantation is a must for natural results. The hair can be obtained from a strip excision or from single extraction (one follicle at a time). The former leaves a thin long scar on the back of the head which is easily hidden if you wear your hair at least an inch long. Fue does not leave any scars.
