There are several : Replacement valves can come from several sources. There are specific indications for each. - a homograft is a specially preserved human tissue valve. - an autograft is a valve taken from one position and moved to another in the same patient. - a xenograft is a specially preserved valve from an animal, most commonly pigs. - there various materials used to make completely artificial valves.

Valve defects in kid: kids can have any valvular disorder, i.e. pulmonary, aortic. Usually but not always, pathologic needing cardiologist care if cyanotic (blue), not feeding well and murmurs noted on exam.
