They can be,: But the person has to keep an eye on his/her vitamin levels, especially b 12 which humans derive mostly from meat. Too little protein can cause fatigue so sources of protein, fats, and carbs need to be in diet, especially if one is vegan. Some folks are vegetarian because they think it is healthier or to avoid toxins, hormones in meat. Others are "ethical vegetarians, " don't kill.
