A member asked:

Whats the difference between a ct scan of the sinuses and a maxillofacial ct with contrast? why would i need both?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not sure: If a physician is trying to determine if you have sinusitis, a cat scan without contrast is all you need. However, if your physician is concerned about something else such as a vascular anomaly or unusual growth in the maxillo-facial region, the radiologist may need to use contrast. Ask the doctor or radiologist to explain why both are needed. What is the diagnosis he wants to make?
