Things to consider: May have intermittent "tapping" of the L3 nerve root causing sporadic symptoms. Other potential causes of your symptoms include iliotibial band syndrome (especially if the outer knee) or meralgia paresthetica (especially if pain/tingling is along a vertical stripe over the front outer thigh) pt can address all of these. Urgent eval warranted if you develop weakness or other true neuro issues.
