Find the cause: Post-nasal drainage is the result of excess mucus production from the nasal lining or the paranasal sinuses. Thus, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis have to be ruled out. The simple answer to your question is find the cause. Then you can be appropriately treated. Remember the normal nose secretes about a quart of mucus a day and we usually swallow it. Think gerd as another possibility..

Antihistamines: Antihistamines can help dry up mucus membranes. Post nasal drip due to allergies can be treated by desensitization therapy by an allergy specialist.
