Find the cause: Post-nasal drainage is the result of excess mucus production from the nasal lining or the paranasal sinuses. Thus, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis have to be ruled out. The simple answer to your question is find the cause. Then you can be appropriately treated. Remember the normal nose secretes about a quart of mucus a day and we usually swallow it.
