Can help: need more: Weight lifting will increase muscle and muscle mass as well as strength. However, proper diet, rest, cardiovascular training as well as flexibility training is also necessary for fitness.

Can lifting weights help me get rid of my body fat?

Yes: Diet is first but combining with exercise has multiple benefits. Resistance exercise can accelerate results. Choose compound movements, set goals, chart progress, get a partner. Great book for middle age program, "the new rules of lifting: for life", shuler and cosgrove.
