A member asked:

Are the typical courses of treatment for alopecia are at safe for children? specifically, a nine year old girl?

See your doctor: A child with alopecia should be examined by a professional to determine the cause of hair loss, evaluate the scalp, and examine other sites such as the nail; a thourough history and physical exam may identify the cause but many times the cause is not known.

Hold On: Wow. No. Absolutely not. If your child has a condition causing alopecia this condition must be diagnosed and the exact and age appropriate treatment started by her physician.
