I'd say "Normal": Ulcerative colitis is a terribly devastating disease. Total colectomy is a "cure". If your rectum is preserved, you will need to have that checked every 6 months or so for your lifetime. If it is not preserved, you are "cured" and should lead a normal life and have, hopefully, a long and happy life ahead. All the best, peter wilk, md.
