Calf Pain: The gastrocnemius is one of the 2 calf muscles. It can be stressed out in many different ways. It help protects the knee and becomes the powerful achilles tendon which stabilizes the ankle. Problems in either area can cause the calf to strain. It has the big sciatic nerve running through it and could develop symptoms from that. It is so strong patients can have problems with flexibility also.
