Exam, EMG, MRI: Neuro exam is fundamental to test spinal nerve roots. Electromyography and nerve conduction study test to see that nerves in the arms or legs are intact and conduct impulses well. Mri cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine can give good quality images of nerve roots, even without IV contrast dye. Hope this helps!
