A member asked:

My doctor tells me that i need an mri on my back because of my constant back pain. he checked my nerves and said they they were ok. an ultrasound was also done. he found a slight curve in my spine. are there any side effects of an mri and what else other

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No side wffects: The MRI is a safe test that uses a magnet instead of X-rays. Because of this there is no radiation exposure. It is one of the best tests for deteriorated or herniated disk problems. Tests to get an answer are not always necessary. The MRI is usually done only if surgery is being considered , if your symptoms don't fit a specific pattern, or if the treatment isn't working.
