Very different : These are totally different. Pid is a sexually transmitted infections that causes pain, fever and sometimes discharge.Bv is an overgrowth of normal vaginal bacteria. It is not sexually-transmitted. It causes vaginal odor but not pain.

I read that PID can be asymptomatic. Is it possible for a person to have untreated bacterial vaginosis that becomes asymptomatic PID or PID that only has mild symptoms? If so, how could a person find out that they had PID after treating the bv?
