Hypersomnia: Prolonged sleeping at night may point to underlying sleep, neurological, as well as other medical issues. For example, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and even restless legs syndrome may cause prolonged sleeping patterns. It is recommended to seek advice of a sleep medicine specialist, and depending on other symptoms the cause of the prolonged sleeping can be figured out. Hope that helps!
