Habit & Melatonin: This is a long-standing sleep problem so it will need a multi-part long-term treatment. First, make sure you reduce/eliminate caffeine, esp after 2 pm, don't exercise after 2 pm, stop tv 1 hour before going to bed. You can try 5 mg to 10 mg of melatonin 30 min before bed, which may help you fall asleep as well as help reset your day-night rhythm. If this fails your gp may try ramelteon.
