Sometimes: Sometimes when chemotherapy or estrogen-blockers are given prior to surgery, it completely eradicates the tumor in the breast. However the only way to prove that is to do the surgery to examine the tissue on a microscopic level. Imaging tests are not accurate enough to tell you that the tumor is gone with certainty.
