Could a diabetic become a paramedic?

Yes: Hi. Yes, you can. I've been a type 1 diabetic for 40 years (got it in college), and went through medical school, graduate school, residency, & fellowship training with it. Reach for your goals! Good luck! You can do it!

Sure thing: In fact, think of how much empathy you could have when going on a run for a patient as a paramedic who may be suffering from complications related to their diabetic condition? And how much credibility you could have in their eyes if they knew the advice you were giving came from PERSONAL experience with your own diabetes?

Paramedic: The simple answer is yes. If you have type 1 diabetes "diabetic" is an OK term. If you have type 2 diabetes please drop the term "diabetic" and work hard to get rid of your diabetes. If you get rid of your diabetes - not impossible - you will tell your family and friends what they have to do to get the same result.
