Likely true: Check with local organizations; for reason that t1 diabetics must take insulinand are subject to hypoglycemic unawareness; this would then be dangerous, not only to you, the patient, but the people you are trying to help in your service to others.

Wide variation: If this is a public service area you are interested in, do your homework and contact a few agencies you would be interested in someday working for to see what their specific policies are. As diabetic care (and monitoring devices) become more sophisticated, some of the old prohibitions are being challenged (successfully). Good luck!
