Dr. Donald Alves answered

Specializes in Emergency Medicine

Training: A Paramedic has about 1600 hours of training, which is usually done as part of an Associates Degree. A physician (MD or DO) is a 4-year graduate degree, followed by 3 to 5 years of Residency training and possibly Fellowship training for 1 to 3 more years. Drs provide medical supervision and direction for Paramedics in the field.
