It depends: This answer is not just a simple answer. The size, location, depth of the chip are all factors in what is done to restore the tooth back to proper function and esthetics. Some chipped teeth might not need to be restored, and some chips might require a crown to restore to health. Some smaller chips might just need to have some bonding to restore the tooth.
