Yes: If it is not too advanced where it is still treatable. Have it treated by a periodontist. Follow his post-op instructions, and maintain all follow- up visits and all 3-6 month visits. Brush and floss per the periodontists and/or dental hygienists instructions. And, watch your diet.

Have your teeth cleaned every 3 months or as recommended by your periodontist. Being straight:: Can you be clean for good? This takes daily bathing or showering. Have a periodontist treat you for any gum disease, remain healthy and practice good oral hygiene on a daily basis. This includes proper tooth brushing and flossing. That's the way to prevent future gum problems and in effect, "get rid of your gum disease for good".
