Not Specific: Lower extremity swelling often leads to pain and the excess fluid makes the legs heavy. The decrease in oxygen that gets through the edema can lead to brown patches, and sometimes even blisters or ulcers. At least 3 possible concerns: is her heart strong? Does she have arterial blockage to her legs? Does she have venous obstruction(insufficiency) from her legs? Please take her to see her doctor.

Edema: This is probably fluid retention. Many causes of this. The pain is from the swelling of the tissue. The discoloration comes the chronic swelling of the legs.
