Two patterns: Familial adenomatous polyposis can have different inheritance patterns: (1) autosomal dominant (involving apc gene) - one parent has disease, child has 50% chance of getting it; (2) autosomal recessive (mutyh gene) - usually neither parent has disease (both are carriers), child has 25% chance of inheriting the disease. See genetic counselor for help.
