Bulging discs: Most people in middle to old age have bulging discs, with no clinical importance. "right side is numb" ....? Do you mean arm, or leg, or trunk? I would suggest seeing your family doctor and/or a neurologist.

Evaluation: I'm unsure what is the question. Bulging discs can be normal as one ages depending on how big and where the bulge is located. Swelling, bowel or bladder changes, weakness, and numbness requires a proper history and physical by an md possibly followed by imaging.

Something else: L4&5 wouldn't cause numbness above your waste neither that. Nor fibro would cause extreme swelling you need more evaluation see doctor.
