? Hernia: The best way to diagnose hernia is with a comprehensive physical exam by a skilled and knowledgeable physician. Whereas hernias are by far the most common cause of bulge in the inguinal area, other problems including enlarged lymph nodes can also cause swelling. If you are uncomfortable with the conclusions of the physician perhaps a second opinion by a surgeon or hernia specialist may be in order.

Maybe fat: May be just some extra fat in the area. You could always get another opinion from a general surgeon with experience in inguinal hernia repair. If its not bothering you, probably ok to just watch it.
