Endoscopy: Gerd can be a sign of esophageal cancer. Just starting an acid blocking medication is not the right first step. Please go see your physician urgently.

Several: Reduce reflux by small meals early in evening. Avoid spicy or whatever tends to cause your personal symptoms. Nothing in hour or so before lying down. Elevate head of bed 2-3 inches. Antacids and acid blockers. See gastroenterology and see if you need scope!
