Likely benign: Most of these are reactive lymph nodes that enlarge and shrink on a sporadic basis after stimulation by germs. They are common and usually start the size of a pea, enlarge to 3/4 inch or more and shrink back down over a 3 week period.If painful, warm, or larger, a visit with your regular doc is indicated. I would never want a kid exposed to the er environment for something this simple.

Get good exam: Need a good history has she been sick? Probably just swollen glands if not red or tender or grwoing ok to just observe until can be checked by doc no er.
