My daughters gum is really red by the cap she had put on several months ago. what could be wrong and what do i do? can't get into dentist for few days

Inflamed gums: It may be the start of an infection. Check in at the er if you are concerned.

Red gums: The redness is likely due to irritation of some sort. This may be food debris caught somewhere where the crown meets the tooth. Often it is between the teeth where the brush cannot squeeze in enough to properly clean. A patient with a crown that contacts another tooth, needs to floss to keep this area free of irritants like food. If pain, try otc gum pain reliever, ask pharmacist, but see dds.
