Many reasons: In the morning our bodies prepare for the day so hormones like Adrenalin are released. This raises our blood pressure. It could also be due to the types of blood pressure medications you take. If they are short acting, they may be wearing off by the morning. It can be due to stress. It can be due to a high salt breakfast. There are many reasons.

To diagnose high blood pressure one needs to have the most accurate device that can be found. This is still a BP taken by a trained human listening to the BP and using a calibrated manometer. i never trust an automated device for my patient unless i can validate it as accurate by auscultation. One reason may be that this patient's arm is not being supported and cuff in wrong place.

Testing ; treatment: At 22, there is likely to an underlying cause. This person needs to be evaluated. Renal disease, adrenal disease, coarctation, cushings disease, and rarely pheochromocytoma all need to be excluded. Treatment and control are critical. I suggest they should be seen very very very soon.
