A member asked:

I had a perilymph fistula patched. should i be worried about air travel causing another injury in that ear? i want to travel!

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Good question: A perilymph fistula is an opening between the inner ear, usually via the round window membrane or oval window. This small communication allowing inner ear fluid (perilymph ) into the middle ear can cause, vertigo and hearing loss. If it was repaired the chance of it happening again from air travel is certainly possible. I would ask your ENT surgeon what he thinks.
