Viral infection: Fever without localizing signs or symptoms is often caused by viral infections. In case he runs fever for more than 3 days, seek a medical attention.

Teething: Yes you have it correct. Treat the symptoms. A little childrens motrin(follow instructions exactly;do not od your infant) will make him feel better and a teething ring that you can put in the freezer works wonders to make the gums feel better.

Teething: Teething can cause fussiness, but not usually a fever over 101. If your child has a fever over 101 for more than a couple of days, he may need to be checked to see if there is another cause.
