Yes: Yes it is. A healthy lifestyle (healthy diet, regular exercise, and if indicated, weight loss) can help prevent progression to diabetes. And remember, developing type 1 diabetes in the 30's is not all that uncommon, and it comes on more indolently than in children & adolescents, so not knowing your condition, just be aware type 1 & type 2 may both be possibilities.
