A single measurement of the blood sugar is in adequate to determine whether somebody is prediabetic, or even possibly diabetic. The better lab test is the hemoglobin A1c which essentially is an average of the blood sugar over the past 3 months and is used to determine whether somebody is normal, prediabetic or diabetic.

No. Prediabetes is best tested by a proper oral glucose tolerance test. How long did you fast? What were you eating the week before? I would spend $20 and go to uptodate.com and read about prediabetes so you are up to date on what pre diabetes is, when to worry and how to diagnosis. Keeping your BMI equal to or less than 25 is good way to avoid.. Also review your family history of DM.
