See urologist...: Finding a mass unexpectedly on the imaging studies for body pain or ache or other ills is nothing uncommon, and called incidental. Once it was found. Doctor needs to define its feature by further study and follow-up so to decide if intervention to do something is needed or not; if needed, when and how? So, ask your urologist for detail. But remember such situation is very common ; you're not alone.

Workup: How was this mass found? If a solid mass is found on a kidney it is usually assumed to be a cancer and is surgically removed. If the mass was seen on ultrasound you will probably get a ct with and without contrast. You will likely be referred to a urologist and assessed for surgery. If the mass is a primary renal cancer and is around 2cm, chances of a cure are good.
