Should be healed: A 'typical' mild to moderate ( grade2) ankle sprain should be completely ' healed' and asymptomatic @ 6 months. Persistent 'soreness' or outright pain w/ activities is not normal.Occassionally more signifigant 'sprains' are associated w/ other injuries including talar dome cartilage damage, peroneal tendon instability, 'impingement syndrome of ankle among others...Best of luck!( why on oxycodone?

May last long time: Pain may last a long time for ankle injuries. Physical therapy may be helpful.
