MRI: If physical therapy does not help with this injury, then an MRI would be the next step. An x-ray can only provide information on the integrity of bones. An MRI will provide additional detail on whether there are any torn ligaments or other supporting soft tissues. Most important thing is to follow up with your doctor if physical therapy is not helping.
