Yes, but: Weakness is just that, weakness. Hernia is actual defect in fascia, the covering of your abdominal wall that keeps viscera in their places. Mri is imaging test, so it detects thickness in tissue, not necessarily whether it is functionally a hernia. Weakness does not necessarily lead to hernia formation, and does not require treatment.

Can't predict : While there may be a weakness there, there is currently no information about the likelihood this will become a hernia. I advise patients with a weakness only to carry on about there lives without restriction or worry. If they are having a her is repair on one side, and a weakness on the other, i usually repair both sides laparoscopically. Hope this helps!
