A member asked:

After gallbladder removal ? do we have side effects life long if we eat fatty foods ?

Not at all: The gallbladder is not a vital organ. We restrict diet to low fat only in the pre op condition. Once the gallbladder is removed we lift all restrictions, allowing all types of foods, including pizza, cheese, etc. Some people have temporary urgency in the early post op period, which is self limited. You don't have to avoid fatty foods. Good luck.

No. : Hi, in the first few weeks after a gall bladder removal a few pts may get some diarrhea but this resolves soon. Over time most patients who have had their gall bladder removed for the appropriate reasons have no trouble whatsoever and lead a normal life. Hope this helps.
