A member asked:

Is it normal to have to fart a lot post-op gallbladder removal. i have not had a bowel movement yet so could be due to that. i am eating low-fat food?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Flatulence: Flatulence is nonspecific and perhaps your digestive system has been altered after gall bladder removal. Avoid gassy foods, very harsh roughshod, carbonated drinks and take simethicone 1/2 hour after meals to prevent gas buildup. If constipation becomes problematic drink adequate fluids and try taking a gentle stimulant with stool softener like senokotS daily.
