Hard to say: Sludge in the gb will be able to cause symptoms, but, answering just what causes an elevated liver enzyme without knowing if you have symptoms is very hard to do. Activity can influence the level as well as gallbladder disease. If you have RUQ pains or heartburn like symptoms after eating, it could be a sick gb.
