A member asked:

Will a child with wet hair get sick if she goes outside when it's cold?

No: It is a very old idea that you "catch" cold with wet hair. If the child has a healthy diet and is in good physical and mental health, wet hair will not cause enough stress to activate a cold virus.

Old wives tale: While it is true that colds and respiratory viruses pass more often in the colder months, it is not the cold that triggers them. If you eliminate the shopping and parties that come with the winter months, you would end the conditions that allow these germs to find new victims easily.Cold hair doesn't cause colds, germs do.
