A member asked:

Why can't my baby get rid of the cold he's had for 2 weeks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Prolonged "colds": The two most common reasons are sequential viral upper respiratory infections occuring so close together as to appear to be "one" illness( especially common in daycare setting) and sinusitis following a viral uri. Most experts define this as persistant symptoms > 10 days. This is longer than many parents are willing to wait for antibiotic therapy.
