See below: In infants, due to the proportional size of their airways as compared to ours, mucous sounds a lot worse but is not necessarily bad. When kids cough, cry, scream, vomit up mucous, they are naturally protecting their lungs. Only if respiratory distress and high fevers are occurring with this should you be concerned and get the child seen. Otherwise, suction nose, sit child up and humidy the air.
